The unyielding trinity: Leadership, Loyalty, and Discipline.

By Lemuel Samuel

The military will always teach you these three things regardless of either rank or file , boy soldier , recruit or officer. They are the principles of leadership , loyalty and decipline. Every drill , every exercise , every parade hangs on this three principles.

Decipline is you doing the right thing even when no one sees you.

Loyalty is trust , commitment and dedication to a person ( or organisation as the case may be ) loyalty has no price until our generation.

Lastly leadership , this is emotional intelligence , communication , strength and accountability.

Anyone who has put on the uniform of service to the armed forces of Nigeria will agree with me that these principles weren't learnt in the class or over a desk and a chair with an instructor dictating notes.

Some learnt these principles on the parade ground , sitting on their heads waving at the sky as the mid noon sun inscribed the principles on their skull with scorching gravels.

Some learnt this during an exercise in the dark of the night with only the stars to navigate, find their missing comrades , and return to base camp before the break dawn.

I learnt loyal while bleeding , sweating and the brinks of tears. Once upon a time.

"Life teaches us through our experiences, challenges, and mistakes."
