PROTECTING INNOCENCE; Understanding and combating pedophilia

 

Pedophile locally known as " difiler " or " molester " in Nigerian local terms, is someone who has sexual feelings towards children, which is harmful, and it an illegal attraction.

Pedophilia is a psychiatric disorder that is characterized by an adult sexual attract to prepubescent children. This is a serious isseus that affects individuals , families and communities worldwide.

Molesters are becoming rampered and  the case is circulating rapidly and viral , this act as said earlier don't only affects the families of victims, but the whole Community worldwide. 

To address this case study in building and upholding the bright future we all pray for, here in this comprehensive study, we will discuss the causes , fast symptoms to identify, and practical solutions to this trending acts ( Pedophilia ).

The exact or main causes of Philadelphia are not fully understood, but  research has proven that , it is a combination of biological, psychological and environmental factors. Examples includes;

1. Neurobioligical abnormalities
2. Childhood trauma or abuse
3. Distorted thinking pattern
4. Social and emotional difficulties

One most common is childhood trauma or abuse. This as a case study involves a child experiencing physical, emotional or sexual abuse. Secondly is Distorted thinking patterns, this encourages believing that CHILDREN ARE CAPABLE OF CONSENTING TO SEXUAL ACTIVITIES.

And finally social and emotional difficulties. This as a factor embodies difficulty in forming healthy relationship with peers or adults , and leading to inappropriate attachments to children.

"Ochanya Elizabeth Ogbanje, a 13-year-old girl from Benue State, died in 2018 due to complications from Vesicovaginal fistula (VVF) caused by alleged repeated rape by her uncle and his son. Despite the severity of the case, the uncle was acquitted, and the son remains at large with an active arrest warrant. The case has sparked renewed calls for justice, with many demanding that authorities reopen the case and apprehend the suspects."

To prevent child sexual abuse ( Pedophilia) , this requires multifaceted approach. Here we will share strategies approach for parents ( caregivers ) , communities and individual.

FOR PARENTS.

1.  Open communication. Talk to children about appropriate boundaries and body safety.
2. Age-Appropriate education. Teach children about appropriate relationships and boundaries.
3. Monitor interactions. Supervise interactions between children and adults.
4. Trust your instincts. Report any suspicious behavior.

FOR COMMUNITIES.

1. Promote education and awareness about sexual abuse to the child.
2. Encourage organization to implements prevention policies ( UNICEF - United Nations Children Fund, International Justice Mission ( IJM ) , National Center For Missing and Exploited Children ( NCMEC ).

FOR INDIVIDUAL.

1. Recognize warning signs. Beware of behaviors that may indicate a risk, such as inappropriate interest in children, unusual behavior around children, inappropriate gift's or favors , inappropriate communications and grooming behavior.
2. If you suspect any abuse , report it to the authorities.
3. Support survivors, listen and believe those who disclose abuse.
